Streetdog Foundation does not have a facility, so we depend on volunteers to provide loving foster homes for our dogs while they wait to find the perfect family. Streetdog provides all of the food, toys, medical care and other needed items. Volunteers provide the love!
There are several options for fostering so that you can choose what best fits your lifestyle. Our Foster and Integration teams are ready to help you find the best fit and to help introduce a foster to any other pets in your household.
Day Trips: Our dogs in boarding long for companionship, so why not take them to a nearby park for a walk, to a dog-friendly patio for some lunch, or to meet up with some furry friends?
Weekend/Short Term Foster: When long term fosters go on vacations, or if a dog in boarding just needs a break, weekend fostering lets you spend time with a pup without the long term commitment.
Long Term Foster: Fosters open their homes for dogs until they find the perfect family. This can be several weeks to several months.
If you are interested in fostering for any length of time, please fill out the application at the bottom of this page.
All of the dogs below currently need foster homes.
Don't let #sdfBettyRubble's serious face fool you - she is one fun lovin' gal! She came to us one cold winter night after some very dedicated Streetdog volunteers noticed her looking for food in downtown Memphis. It was obvious she was nursing puppies so our volunteers spent hours in the cold, following her around until she led them back to her little family. They earned the name The Flintstone Family because they were living in a tiny, partially collapsed cave near a railroad track. All her puppies have been adopted into wonderful homes, and Betty is just waiting for her own! Betty currently lives with several other older pups and would love a younger playmate. She's of all things in the toy section, great with kids of all ages and cats, and is a big cuddler! Open your home and heart to sweet Betty!
#sdfCossette is still learning about living with people. Her early life was spent tied up in a backyard with very little contact with people and other dogs. She takes a moment to get comfortable with new people. Once she warms up though, she is Ms. Personality! She loves toys, snuggles, and is very treat motivated. She will require a special foster willing to work with a trainer to help her progress. She already knows to go to her mat and stay when visitors come over! She is a very smart girl and eager to please though and has already made great progress in her current foster home!
