Three years ago, a volunteer alerted us to a pair of dogs who had been roaming around together. One of them was a sweet deaf boy we named Gouda. His buddy Merlot was adopted, and Gouda found an amazing foster home. His foster family loved him well, and taught him how to interact with people despite his deafness. During the time Gouda was with us, he developed a debilitating disease that caused him a lot of pain. While he did have times of remission, the flare ups were really hard on him. This week, his disease intensified and we made the difficult decision to let him go last night. When he passed away, he was surrounded by people who loved him. He was an amazing and sweet boy who was loved by many. Rest in peace sweet Gouda, we are comforted to know you will never know pain again.
