In September of 2017 we were alerted to a group of dogs living behind a downtown business. A kind group of MLGW drivers were feeding this pack that included a pregnant female, an adult male, and a young pup that we think is from mama's last litter.
After over 48 hours we were able to get Momma (Moana) and her pup (Kala).
Kala had a severe case of mange and a cherry eye, which required surgery to fix. But after a few months of TLC, Kala's fur has filled in, her body has filled out and she's on the road to wellness! She's looking for a forever home, preferably with at least one other dog to keep her company.
1/21/18: Kala's skin should be good after this last round of medication for her mange. She is learning what the good life is in her foster home and her foster mom is working hard on teaching Kala that humans are a-ok and not to be too scared when meeting new people. Kala was pretty feral when she came to us, so with these babies, sometimes it just takes time and patience and love.
